The RB5009 sets a new standard for home lab routers, combining compact design, powerful performance, and versatile powering options. Crafted with insights from MikroTik User Meetings, this router features nine wired ports, including seven Gigabit Ethernet ports, one 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port, and a 10G SFP+ cage. The Marvell Amethyst family switch-chip ensures efficient connectivity, delivering a 10 Gbps full-duplex line to the Marvell Armada Quad-core ARMv8 1.4 GHz CPU.
Innovatively designed, both the CPU and switch-chip are strategically placed at the board's bottom, utilizing the case as an effective heat-sink for optimal cooling. The RB5009 supports three powering methods: PoE-in from Ethernet port #1, DC Jack, or a 2-pin terminal on the side. With 1GB of DDR4 RAM and 1GB NAND storage, it outperforms counterparts in a similar form factor, excelling in configurations with heavy CPU loads.
Effortless scalability is achieved with a straightforward set of mounting accessories, allowing the mounting of up to FOUR routers in a single 1U rackmount space. This not only simplifies installation but also maximizes productivity by eliminating the server-room-Tetris hassle. The RB5009 stands as a user-centric, high-performance solution, redefining expectations for home lab routers.
